Food manufacturer Fair Oaks Foods announced it would build a 150,000-square-foot production facility in Davenport, Iowa, once the project is approved by the state.

The project is worth $134 million and will create 247 jobs. The site will produce fully-cooked bacon and expand Fair Oaks’ existing capabilities, company officials said.

Michael Thompson, Fair Oaks Foods CEO and president, said the company is excited about working with the Quad Cities community and creating new job opportunities.

Fair Oaks Foods is awaiting a Davenport City Council vote for a financial commitment and a resolution of support that would provide a 60% tax increment finance rebate for 15 years. The company will also use a $3.4 million sales tax refund for construction materials.

Fair Oaks COO Joseph Freda said the company search began with 177 sites and ultimately landed on Davenport. "We are excited to make Davenport home to our future growth," he said.

Headquartered in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, Fair Oaks Foods makes protein products such as meatballs, bacon, pork, and turkey sausage.
